Meet the Team – Our new apprentice engineer Jim

At Evolve Business Solutions we pride ourselves on doing as much as we can in-house – we stock our own equipment, build new devices in our workshop and deliver and install the products ourselves. The same goes for our service engineers, who we train ourselves.

Our engineers are manufacturer trained and certified on every product we offer. They also undertake thorough IT training so they have the knowledge to diagnose and troubleshoot all network, printing and scanning problems. Not only does this mean they know our products inside out, but keeping our engineers in-house means they are local. They understand the area and where your business is based – meaning if a problem arises, they can be with you quickly.

Apprentice service engineer, Jim Stewart joined Evolve in October 2022 and is quickly getting to grips with our machines. Here he tells us a little more about himself.

What was your professional background before joining Evolve Business Solutions?
I had a two-year spell in the nuclear industry, then I worked as a support worker for seven years, so this is a new industry for me,

What attracted you to working at Evolve?
Evolve is an honest place to work where employees can be open and genuine. I am part of a great team.

What is a ‘day-in-the-life’ like at Evolve for you?
No two days are the same. There’s so much variety and I like to get stuck in with whatever needs doing and developing my skills.

What motivates you at work?
I love overcoming challenges and learning, which I’m doing a lot of at present.

What is the best part of the job?
Definitely the rest of the team; I find everyone at Evolve very easy to get along with.

What do you hope to achieve professionally this year?
I’d really like to have completed my online training.

Do you have any mentors or role models in your professional life?
I’d say my main mentor at Evolve is Steve, main role model is my Dad.

What are your passions outside of work?
I love football, swimming, spending time with friends, family, and my puppy Kenzo.

What is something you are proud of?
How long I have grown my hair 18 months!

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I love being outside so my main hobbies are walking the dog and football.

And finally…who makes the best cuppa in the office and why?!
Me! I like to take my time and put a lot of love into it.
